Chris Jeanguenat is a Virginia-based painter known for her baroque illustrative style that blends rich storytelling with visual nostalgia. Working primarily in acrylic and chalk mineral paint, she creates layered, narrative scenes that evoke memory, wonder, and the mystery of childhood imagination. Her use of antique frames further enhances the timeless, storybook quality of her work.
Based in Suffolk, VA, Jeanguenat draws inspiration from forest adventures, motherhood, and everyday moments infused with curiosity and humor. She was awarded the Virginia’s Finest honor at the MOCA Boardwalk Art Show and has received multiple juried awards, including Excellence in Painting awards from the Port Warwick Arts and Sculpture Festival and Best in Show at the Stockley Gardens Arts Festival.
Her work has been exhibited widely across Virginia, including the Norfolk Botanical Garden, the Suffolk Art Gallery, and The Glen Alen Cultural Arts Center, Bayschool Community Arts Center and other galleries in Virginia. A forthcoming solo exhibition is planned at the Rawls Museum Arts and the Suffolk Cultural Arts Center. She’s also contributed artwork and articles to Painting World Magazine and other arts publications.
Jeanguenat regularly opens her downtown Suffolk studio to visitors, welcoming conversations around art, storytelling, and the everyday magic that fuels her practice.
