Why is this piece your Trace Fossil?

"This piece is meant to convey the metaphorical weight of feeling of not knowing how to express your identity within a community. The milk carton is a metaphor for a missing feeling of my identity, it's an image of my Cuban mother trying her best to braid my hair. The beans surrounding the figure are a representation of the food that I eat that belongs to both of my cultures and seamlessly melds the multifaceted dimensions of dual heritage. I had a screen printed onto the piece and layered tissue paper to show a layering of the cultures.”
